This tool estimates the likely date of delivery for pregnant women. It works on a well-established medical formula — adding 280 days to the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) — and adjusts the result based on your personal cycle length. Gynaecologists across the country use the same principle during initial consultations.
Not every woman has a 28-day cycle. Cycle lengths between 21 and 40 days are perfectly normal. If your cycle is longer than average, ovulation happens later, which pushes the estimated due date forward. If shorter, the due date may be a few days earlier. This calculator accounts for that difference automatically.
A full-term pregnancy spans approximately 40 weeks, grouped into three phases. During the first twelve weeks, the baby's major organs begin forming — this is when folic acid and iron supplements are especially important. Between weeks thirteen and twenty-six, the baby grows rapidly, movements become noticeable, and many mothers undergo their detailed ultrasound scan. In the final phase leading up to delivery, the baby gains weight, the lungs mature, and the body prepares for labour.
Start prenatal visits early — ideally before the twelfth week. Eat a balanced diet including green leafy vegetables, dals, milk, eggs, and seasonal fruits. Stay hydrated and take prescribed supplements regularly. Avoid self-medication and always consult your doctor before taking any new medicine. Research shows that fewer than one in twenty babies arrive on the exact estimated date. Most healthy deliveries happen within a two-week window on either side.
